Unchanging god, enduring mission

Third Millennium Church Evangelism and Discipleship

“We cannot reach the world of today and tomorrow using yesterday’s maps. The Great Commission hasn’t changed — but the terrain has.”

Jerusalem Council II

Position Paper

by John Sorensen

Join me as we explore the urgent need for a renewed fervor for evangelism and discipleship in the third millennium. While the Great Commission has not changed, the world around us certainly has. There is a compelling call for the Church to meet the world around us with the hope of the Gospel. And there is no better time to do so than now—because we are seeing an openness to the Gospel like never before. This paper invites believers and leaders alike to engage with a strategy to reach the world with the Gospel that brings us back to how the early Church shared their faith…and that is through every believer being a witness to the community around them.

Lifeway Study

We surveyed 1,002 Americans with 32 questions related to faith, hope, eternity, Christianity, and Jesus. The results are fascinating and worth your review. Too often Christians including pastors believe people are generally unwilling to talk about eternity and the Gospel. But these results show otherwise and should encourage believers to feel more free and more excited to share their faith with friends, family, and strangers too!

A Christian Doctrine of Works

Chapter 9 - The Church in the 21st Century from the Book, "Well Done"

In a world shadowed by uncertainty, the Church shines with a light that is “fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and awesome as an army with banners.” This chapter offers a sweeping look at God’s work across the globe—millions coming to Christ daily, explosive growth in the Global South, and lay believers stepping boldly into their calling. Yet it also issues a challenge: to reclaim our cultural influence, stand firm under persecution, and live as the radiant Bride of Christ. It’s a call to move from spectators to soldiers, carrying the banner of Jesus’ love into every corner of the earth.
